Success of Fast & Furious 6: The Game Gives Rise to 2014 Entry

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Kabam, Inc. today announced it will release a new game based on Universal Pictures’ Fast & Furious franchise to smartphones and tablets coinciding with the seventh installment of the blockbuster saga, set for release on July 11, 2014. Kabam will develop the game with Universal Partnerships & Licensing (UP&L), following the success of the companies’ first collaboration earlier this year.

Kabam launched Fast & Furious 6: The Game in May and it quickly raced to the top of the App Store and Google Play charts in more than 100 countries including the U.S., Canada, France, U.K., Germany, Korea and Japan. The game received the App Store’s “Editors’ Choice” honor in more than 90 countries and cracked the Top 10 on the App Store’s Top Grossing iPhone chart in more than 21 countries. Racing fans embraced the game at a record pace for Kabam, with more than 17 million players installing the game in just over a month and more than 33 million to date.

“The Fast & Furious franchise is a global phenomenon that continues to evolve as the scale of the films grow bigger with each new release,” said Andrew Sheppard, President of Kabam Studios. “Kabam is proud to continue to collaborate with Universal on such a fun and mass-appeal franchise to develop a new mobile game that progresses with the same ambition of the series,” Sheppard said.

“We are thrilled with the success of Fast & Furious 6: The Game. Kabam has done an incredible job developing an immersive experience that truly resonates with the fans of the franchise,” said Stephanie Sperber, President, UP&L. “We’re delighted to be working with Kabam again, and anticipate yet another hit game that will endure for many years to come.”
