GURGAON, India--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Bacardi India Private Limited today announced the appointment of Vijay Subramaniam as country manager for India effective October 7. Concurrently, after more than six years of strong leadership in the growing businesses of India and Southeast Asia, Mahesh Madhavan will take up a new challenge within Bacardi where his new role will be announced shortly.
Over the next few months, Mr. Madhavan will support handing over the country manager role and responsibilities to Mr. Subramaniam before he moves onto his next Bacardi position. Mr. Madhavan, who has been with Bacardi for 17 years, will also continue to lead the Southeast Asia market in the interim. As he transitions from India, he leaves Mr. Subramaniam with a team of talented people.
Mr. Subramaniam was the Chief Executive Officer of Kaya Ltd., the Skin Care solutions arm of Marico Limited, where he was in charge of the India and the overseas business. Prior to this role, Subramaniam headed the international fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) business for Marico Limited where he had successfully scaled up the business and made it profitable. He brings with him an enriched career in general management, marketing and sales spanning more than two decades.
Prior to Marico, Mr. Subramaniam was designated the Head of Marketing at Henkel India Limited, for its laundry and homecare division. In 1999, he was with Pepsi as its Vice President – Marketing. Mr. Subramaniam began his career with United Breweries in 1991 and went on to become its Marketing Manager Pan India.
Mr. Subramaniam holds an MBA degree from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the University of Madras.
