Northeast PANS/PANDAS Parents Association Announces First of Its Kind, Northeast 2-Day PANS/PANDAS Conference

DUXBURY, Mass.--()--The Northeast PANS/PANDAS Parents Association announced the Northeast 2-Day PANS/PANDAS Conference is being held in Providence, Rhode Island on November 9 and 10, 2103. The conference is highlighting notable speakers such as Susan Swedo, M.D., Chief of the Pediatrics and Developmental Neuroscience Branch (PDN) in the intramural research program at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), Dr. Madeleine Cunningham, PhD., Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer, Moleculera Labs, Dr. Kenneth Bock, M.D., Founder, Bock Integrative Medicine and Diana Pohlman, Founder of PandasNetwork.org.

“I am honored to be included as a speaker at the conference and to have the opportunity to share what I have learned over the years treating so many children living with PANS/PANDAS,” stated Dr. Beth Latimer, M.D. Pediatric, Adolescent and Adult Neurologist and a speaker at the conference. The conference is running Saturday, November 9, 2013 from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday, November 10, 2013 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Providence Marriott Downtown located at 1 Orms Street, Providence, Rhode Island. Parents, physicians, nurses, therapists, teachers, and anyone interested in the latest research and treatments are encouraged to attend. Certificates of Attendance will be provided. Cost for the 2-day Conference is $150.

PANDAS/PANS has an encephalitic-like onset following an infection such as Strep, Walking Pneumonia, Mono or Lyme. Antibodies mistakenly attack a part of the brain, resulting in sudden onset of acute, neuropsychiatric behavioral changes that can include: OCD, tics, age regression, separation anxiety, contamination fears, paranoia, insomnia, anorexia, violent rages and running away.
