COLUMBUS, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Huntington Bank is giving customers a voice in creating their own credit card with the launch today of Voice™ from Huntington, powered by MasterCard® (www.huntington.com/voicecreditcard). Thought to be the only credit card of its kind in the country, the Voice Credit Card™ from Huntington reflects the bank’s ongoing Fair Play Banking philosophy of doing the right thing for customers by eliminating certain fees and offering choice for triple rewards or a lower interest rate.
Huntington customers can obtain the Voice™ card with no annual fee and Late Fee Grace™, selecting from the following options to create the customized MasterCard that is best for their spending patterns and lifestyle:
Triple Rewards: Rewards customers of the Voice™ will receive three points for every dollar they spend, up to $2,000 per quarter, in their choice of one of 13 triple rewards categories.¹ Rewards customers of the Voice™ will receive three reward points for every dollar spent in their triple rewards category and one reward point per dollar spent for all other purchases with no limit on earning single points.
Additionally, Voice Credit Card™ Huntington cardholders can switch to another triple rewards category before the start of each quarter. For example, if a customer is in the grocery triple rewards category, but plans to drive to a vacation spot, they can change the triple rewards category to gasoline for the next quarter and then switch back to groceries or to an entirely different triple rewards category the following quarter. The Voice Credit Card™ triple rewards categories include but are not limited to restaurants, utilities, pharmacy, apparel, gas and travel and entertainment.
Lower Interest Rate: For customers who prefer a lower interest rate card rather than rewards, the Voice™ offers an interest rate that is 3 percent lower than the purchase APR of the rewards card.
Both triple rewards and lowered interest rate options have the innovative service feature of Late Fee Grace™, which each month gives consumers an extra day to pay their Voice™ card without being charged a late fee.² And Voice™ has no penalty rate, so that customers keep the same low APR even if they slip up and make a late payment.
“At Huntington, our extensive research indicates that customers want to be empowered to design the credit card benefits that are right for them,” said Mary Navarro, director of Retail and Business Banking. “The Voice Credit Card™ is another initiative aimed at doing the right thing for the customer by giving them a voice in their banking and allowing them to choose the card that is best for their financial needs.”
Huntington’s rollout of the Voice Credit Card™ is another innovative customer product developed following customer feedback on what they want from a bank. Similar to integrating customer desire for choice and certain fee elimination resulting in triple rewards, lowered interest rate and Late Fee Grace™, Huntington incorporated feedback from comprehensive customer focus groups before introducing 24-Hour Grace ® in September 2010 providing customers the opportunity to avoid overdraft fees. That was followed in May 2011 with the introduction of Asterisk Free Checking®, Huntington's industry-leading checking account with no minimum balance requirement and no monthly checking maintenance fee. Huntington is recognized as one of the Best Banks in America by MONEY Magazine.3
The Voice Credit Card™ is Huntington’s third collaboration with MasterCard, following the conversion of Huntington’s debit card programs to MasterCard in fall 2011, and the launch of a card for commercial customers earlier in 2013. The MasterCard partnership provides customers zero liability for unauthorized transactions, worldwide acceptance everywhere MasterCard is accepted (including no foreign transaction fees for Voice Credit Card™ customers), and 60-day price protection.
