PORTLAND, Ore.--()--Consumer Cellular (www.consumercellular.com), the number one rated cell phone service provider and exclusive wireless provider for AARP members, is set to introduce increased allowances for its voice and data plans starting on August 1. Depending on the no-contract Anywhere Voice Plan and supplemental Connect! Text/Data Plan selected, customers will receive up to 1,000 additional minutes, and up to 1G of additional data for no additional cost. Current subscribers will have these levels retroactively applied to their July bill.

“These increased allowances represent Consumer Cellular’s eighth voice and text/data expansion in the last five years,” said Consumer Cellular CEO John Marick. “As the company has grown we have consistently worked to leverage our growing size to get better deals for our customers. Now with over a million subscribers, we have another opportunity to thank our customers for their support and give them added value with even more minutes, texts and data.”

Many wireless companies have been raising rates, limiting data usage and surprising their subscribers with exorbitant overage fees, making Consumer Cellular’s approach unique. The company has reacted to an uptick in data usage from their key demographic by increasing allowances on top text messaging and data plans by 25-100 percent. All calling plans have also been increased with 25-50 percent more minutes. The accompanying tables outline how the rate changes will enhance most of the company’s plan options.

Additionally, Consumer Cellular’s voice plans will now feature free in-account calling between all phones on the same account plan.

The company will also continue to offer free usage alerts to their subscribers when they approach monthly allowances of voice, text and data usage. Along with the free usage alerts, Consumer Cellular allows subscribers to easily switch to lighter or more robust service plans as often as they’d like without fees to meet their changing needs.
