Gregory FCA and Safeguard Scientifics Name Best Unknown Businesses in America

A company that connects employers and job seekers on mobile phones and tablets, and another that helps parents home school their children are the Best Unknown Businesses in America

ARDMORE, Pa.--()--A Horsham, Pa.-based company that makes it easy for employers to find and retain employees through mobile devices, and a Lehigh Valley-based company that helps families homeschool their children have been named the Best Unknown Businesses in America in a Facebook contest that awarded $10,000 in cash and a $40,000 PR campaign.

The Best Unknown Business in America contest, sponsored by Gregory FCA, one of the nation’s 50 largest public relations firms, and Safeguard Scientifics (NYSE: SFE), a growth capital provider to healthcare and technology companies, sought to find and recognize great, under-the-radar companies that could benefit from increased visibility.

iMomentous was chosen as the grand prize winner for its mobile solutions that enable companies to connect with job candidates as well as current employees through the “always-on” convenience of their smartphones and tablets. Its mobile platform puts the job search and application process directly in the hands of potential candidates, and also intensifies engagement with current employees through opportunities to network, refer candidates, and collaborate with colleagues. iMomentous has more than 100 companies live on its mobile recruitment SaaS platform, including Informatica, QVC, Einstein Medical, and the Hearst Corporation.

Bridgeway Academy was named runner up, for its ability to deliver fully customized and accredited home school programs to more than 20,000 families around the world who are seeking freedom in K-12 education. The company’s remote education solutions equip children to pursue academic excellence while also following their personal passion—be it athletics, music, art, performance, travel, or something completely different. Bridgeway Academy allows children to learn anytime, any way, and anywhere they go.

The winners were selected by a panel of celebrity judges that included Stephen T. Zarrilli, President and CEO of Safeguard Scientifics; Greg Matusky, Founder and President of Gregory FCA; Daniel Roitman, Founder and CEO of Stroll, an education e-commerce platform company repeatedly ranked for company growth by the Inc. 5000, Smart CEO, and the Philadelphia 100; and Miles Spencer, an angel investor, media entrepreneur, and explorer who co-created Money Hunt, the original entrepreneurial funding reality TV show.

“Both iMomentous and Bridgeway fill a timely void in their respective markets,” says Zarrilli, whose company receives and reviews more than a thousand business plans each year from eager entrepreneurs seeking capital and support services. “The ability to reach job seekers on mobile devices provides enterprises with a silver bullet for finding the best possible talent.”

“We conceived of this contest as a way to advance the mission of great companies that could benefit from our ability to generate market and media awareness,” says Gregory FCA President Greg Matusky. “We were honored that Safeguard Scientifics chose to co-sponsor the contest, and that more than 50 companies submitted entries. Like Safeguard, we have always been committed to the great saga of the American entrepreneur and wanted to return something to the entrepreneurial community and help build the next great pool of American businesses.”
