LONGVIEW, Texas & HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sloan, Bagley, Hatcher & Perry Law Firm (The Sloan Firm, www.SloanFirm.com) has introduced its Texas Lesiones App (www.Texaslesionesapp.com). The Texas Lesiones App is a Spanish language version of its free safety, accident and injury mobile app (www.texasinjuryapp.com) for iOS and Android smartphone and tablet platform.
The Sloan Firm’s Texas Lesiones App, which can be downloaded by accessing www.texaslesionesapp.com, equips teen and experienced drivers, passengers, workers at job sites, witnesses and first responders with a variety of helpful tools.
Features of The Texas Injury App include, but are not limited to:
- Listings of medical information and records (for sharing information about health conditions, medications, past surgeries, and allergies);
- Emergency medical information accessible via the “Mi Ley” icon with a red cross graphic. By clicking on the Mi Ley icon, emergency personnel gain access to important medical information in the event of an injury. The red cross graphic is a universal symbol that is recognized by emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and first responders. Having immediate access to critical medical information ensures that EMTs and doctors can provide the best care possible.
- A Global Positioning Satellite-enabled locator (for finding and reporting remote, obscure, dangerous or unknown locations); and,
- Camera and audio recording for documenting accident scenes and evidence for potential insurance and injury claims (such as skid marks and witness comments).
Laureen F. Bagley, a partner at The Sloan Firm, explained that the Texas Injury App is available in English and Spanish throughout Texas. The firm is seeking to reach people of all ages, community and service organizations, educators, law enforcement representatives, and first responders in Texas, with a special focus on the geographic areas of Longview, Tyler, Dallas, Fort Worth, the Houston metropolitan area, southeast Texas and Waco. The Sloan Firm also plans to introduce customized safety and injury apps for users in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Oklahoma later in 2013.
“This is an app that we seriously hope people do not need to use. However, if you find yourself in an emergency situation, we would like for you to have it downloaded on your smartphone and readily available. Our Sloan Law Texas Injury App provides a ‘step-by-step’ checklist of what to do in an auto accident or work injury. It guides you through taking photos at the scene and recording statements of those who witnessed the accident. These can be sent directly to The Sloan Firm for one of our attorneys to review or to any law firm of your choosing. Our telephone and Web site chat lines are open 24/7, so anyone can contact us any time night or day from anywhere in Texas to receive free information from our attorneys,” Bagley commented.
“We recommend that parents and educators encourage teen drivers especially to download the Texas Injury App since statistics indicate that a high percentage of teens have accidents in their first month of being a licensed driver,” Bagley added.
According to a fact sheet published by The Center for Disease Control, (www.cdc.gov/motorvehiclesafety/teen_drivers/teendrivers_factsheet.html), vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for U.S. teens: “In 2010, about 2,700 teens in the United States aged 16 to 19 were killed and almost 282,000 were treated and released from emergency departments for injuries suffered in motor-vehicle crashes. Young people ages 15-24 represent only 14 percent of the U.S. population; however, they account for 30 percent ($19 billion) of the total costs of motor vehicle injuries among males and 28 percent ($7 billion) of the total costs of motor vehicle injuries among females.”
The Sloan Firm collaborated with Patrick Anderson, chief executive officer of Your Law Firm App (www.yourlawfirmapp.com), to develop the Injury App. The Texas Lesiones App developed for The Sloan Firm is the first Spanish language version of Your Law Firm App.
