SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Former Thomas Weisel Asset Management LLC (Stifel, Nicolaus & Co.) leader, Henri Moudi, CFA, today announced the launch of Mission Creek Capital Partners, Inc., an independent investment advisory firm that is focused on providing specialized private equity distribution management and investment advisory services.
Headquartered in San Francisco, Mission Creek Capital Partners provides individualized and differentiated private equity distribution management and advisory services on a discretionary basis for select institutional and private clients. Mission Creek currently manages customized distribution management mandates for institutional clients with combined private equity commitments approaching $3.0 billion.
Mission Creek offers customized private equity distribution management services to best manage, monetize and maximize the value of securities distributed by private equity general partners. The firm’s distribution management platform seeks to preserve and enhance overall cash-on-cash returns for private equity limited partners, executives and entrepreneurs on a separately managed account basis.
“Private equity investors face multiple challenges managing stock distributions from general partners and are looking for an independent, unconflicted provider that can best meet their individualized requirements,” said Moudi, co-founding partner of Mission Creek Capital Partners. “The appropriate management of exits is a crucial element of the private equity life cycle that is often overlooked and taken for granted. Our distribution management platform is uniquely positioned to best ensure that private equity exits are effectively and efficiently managed in order to preserve and enhance overall returns based on our clients’ specific objectives. We consider distribution management as a ‘core’ focus and not simply as an ‘ancillary’ service.”
Moudi previously developed and led Thomas Weisel Asset Management’s distribution management platform for over a decade and successfully managed over $2.0 billion in concentrated stock exposures from hundreds of private equity general partners on a global basis, among other strategies, for some of the largest institutional private equity investors. Moudi has substantial expertise evaluating, managing, hedging and monetizing concentrated, low-cost basis stock exposures leading to more resilient and well-diversified portfolios. Moudi has also successfully designed and profitably implemented hedge and overlay strategies utilizing index and equity options to selectively enhance returns and mitigate risks on over $500 million in concentrated exposures and has significant experience managing restricted and control stock positions.
Alongside Moudi, Charles Gehring, CFA, is a Managing Director at Mission Creek Capital Partners. Gehring spent the past decade at Insight Capital Research & Management, Inc., an independent investment firm in the San Francisco Bay Area focused on small-cap, small-to-mid-cap and large-cap concentrated growth stock portfolios for institutional and private clients. Gehring served as Managing Director and as Chairman of Insight’s Investment Committee and was the portfolio manager for the core growth portfolio from 2001 until 2009 where his portfolio earned the Emerging Manager Monthly Large-Cap Manager of the Year Award in 2008.
“We are focused on implementing and executing individualized and specialized strategies within a completely unconflicted platform giving us the ability to always be sitting on the same side of the table as our clients,” said Gehring.
