Segal Announces Executive Promotions

NEW YORK--()--Joseph A. LoCicero, President and CEO of The Segal Group announced the recent promotion of six Senior Vice Presidents and seven Vice Presidents:

To Senior Vice President:

Aldwin P. Frias. Mr. Frias joined Segal Consulting’s New York office in 1998. After a series of promotions, he was named a Vice President in 2007 and Vice President and Actuary in 2011. Mr. Frias has more than 15 years of experience as a pension and retiree health actuary working with multiemployer and public sector pension and health plans. He received a BS in Actuarial Science from New York University. Mr. Frias is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries and an Enrolled Actuary. He currently serves as a Vice Chairman of the Society of Actuaries’ Education and Examinations Committee on Retirement Benefits.

Christopher D. Heppner. Mr. Heppner joined Segal Consulting’s Chicago office in 2002 and was promoted to Vice President in 2005. He managed a Chicago health team until earlier this year when he was named Health Practice Leader for the Midwest Region. Mr. Heppner has more than 20 years of experience working as a consultant and health actuary. He received a BS in Business Administration from the University of Illinois. Mr. Heppner is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

Ronald O. Olsen. Mr. Olsen joined Segal Consulting’s Toronto office in 2002 as a Vice President. He has more than 20 years of experience in actuarial consulting and is an expert in the design, administration and valuation of pension plans. Mr. Olsen leads Sibson’s Canadian team on defined benefit plan de-risking. He serves as a consulting actuary and CRM for major clients. Mr. Olsen graduated with Honours from the University of Waterloo (Ontario). He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.

L. Scott Price. Mr. Price joined Segal Consulting’s Chicago office in 1995 as the Manager of the Chicago Health Practice and was promoted to Vice President in 2000. He has more than 30 years of experience providing health and retirement consulting to multiemployer plans in the Midwest. Mr. Price earned a BA in Economics from Clark University (Worcester, MA).

Robert T. Ressegue. Mr. Ressegue joined Segal Consulting’s New York office in 1978. He became a Benefits Consultant in 1998 and a Vice President in 2001. In 2011, Mr. Ressegue took on the management of the NY Region’s Marketing and Sales efforts and was appointed to the firm’s national Multiemployer Leadership Group in 2012. He has more than 35 years of experience working as a consultant to multiemployer plans. Mr. Ressegue is a graduate of Fordham University with a BS in Financial Management.

To Vice President:

Eric J. Atwater. Mr. Atwater joined Segal Consulting’s Atlanta office in 2007. He has more than 15 years of experience working as a consultant and actuary to retirement and post-retirement benefit programs for public entities. Mr. Atwater conducts deterministic and stochastic modeling of plan liabilities and future cash flows for defined benefit plans and has conducted benchmarking and competitive assessments of programs and redesigned retirement and/or postretirement programs to meet specific objectives. He is a graduate of Georgia State University with a BBA, with a concentration in Actuarial Science. Mr. Atwater is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries and an Enrolled Actuary.

Judith Goodstein. Ms. Goodstein joined Segal Consulting’s Washington office in 2007. She has more than 17 years of actuarial and consulting experience. Ms. Goodstein is an expert on plan funding under the Pension Plan Protection Act of 2006 (PPA’06) and is frequently called upon to consult on PPA’06 funding issues for both multiemployer and single employer plans. Ms. Goodstein has also conducted funding projection cash flow studies, merger studies and plan design studies. She is a graduate of Brandeis University with a BA in Mathematics. Ms. Goodstein is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Member of the American Society of Actuaries and an Enrolled Actuary.

Henry P. Nearing. Mr. Nearing joined Segal Consulting’s Hartford office in 1996. After several promotions, he became Actuarial Manager for the Hartford Office’s Actuarial Department in 2013. Mr. Nearing has more than 16 years of experience working with corporate and public sector retirement plan sponsors and he has consulted on all types of retirement plans – defined benefit, defined contribution, retiree medical and nonqualified plans. He received a BS in Mathematics from the State University of New York at Albany. Mr. Nearing is a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and an Enrolled Actuary.

Matthew Pavesi. Mr. Pavesi joined Segal Consulting’s New York office in 2005. He consults to many large multiemployer welfare and pension plan clients. As the Painters’ Industry Group Leader, Mr. Pavesi often attends industry events and conference. He has also spoken at employer association meetings for the Sheet Metal and Plumbing industries. Mr. Pavesi holds a BA in History and Political Science and an MS in Labor Research and Relations from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Daniel J. Rhodes. Mr. Rhodes joined Segal Consulting’s Boston office in 2003. He has 10 years of experience working as a consultant and actuary with multiemployer and public sector group health plans. Mr. Rhodes received an AB with Honors in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University. He is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries. Mr. Rhodes is a licensed Life, Accident and Health Producer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and other New England states.

Leonard J. Spangher. Mr. Spangher joined Sibson Consulting’s New York office in 2001. He has more than 17 years of experience in actuarial and benefits consulting. Mr. Spangher received a BS cum laude in Statistics and Actuarial Science and an MS in Management (with a specialization in Finance) from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He earned the designation of Managed Healthcare Professional (MHP) from the Health Insurance Association of America and the designation of Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Joshua D. Timm. Mr. Timm joined Segal Consulting’s Hartford office in 2003. He has more than a decade of experience consulting with multiemployer health and retirement plans as well as with public sector health plans. Mr. Timm is an expert in health plan design, budgeting and vendor management as well as plan design and compliance with ACA regulations. He received a BS in Business Management from Western Oregon University. Mr. Timm holds the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation from the IFEBP and The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a licensed insurance broker throughout New England.
