NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MIATOWN, ‘a new sound for the ages’ musical genre from Miami, gets a new name this Friday at a NYC launch party culminating the Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC).
A kaleidoscope of cultures meet at the crossroads of the Americas to form a place called MIATOWN = Miami (www.miatown.us). Since the start of the new millennium, a melding of musical genres has been catching fire in Miami. The musical genre is “a new sound for the ages” and consists primarily of: Rock; Reggae; Cumbia; Son, Ska, Salsa, Rap, Charranga, Champeta, and Electronica, among others. The common thread is Brass, Beats and Guitars.
MIATOWN ~ THE BIG 5 presents the top 5 bands in Miami who represent the MIATOWN Sound. The bands are: Spam Allstars; Suenalo; Locos Por Juana; Bachaco and Xperimento. A wide range of rhythms and genres which reflect the excitement that is Miami can be heard on this ten song “Party Mix” Compilation CD.
“The Big 5 represent the next generation, 21st Century Miami Sound,” says James Quinlan, Founder of the Rhythm Foundation, the World Music concert producer. “These bands drive the pulse of modern Miami.”
The recording is curated and compiled by ‘Papa G’, a Miatown music aficionado, promoter, record producer and 28 year resident of Miami’s tony South Beach.
