CE Week 2013

MORGAN HILL, Calif.--()--Velodyne Acoustics wowed the industry crowd last week during CE Week in NYC, winning Best in Show and introducing several new products. Velodyne’s vFree Bluetooth wireless headphones, which debuted during CES 2013, was awarded Best in Show in the wireless category for on-ear headphones. The much-anticipated vQuiet, Velodyne’s first headphone line featuring active noise cancellation, also debuted to rave reviews.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to win Best in Show,” said Velodyne President, Marta Hall. “We’ve been in the business of audio technology for over 30 years and we’re now poised to change the face of the headphone industry. This is just the beginning. We have many more exciting products in the works for the coming months.”

The vQuiet, showcased during CE Week and available to the public on July 15, is one of those products. The vQuiet features active noise cancellation that blocks out 90% of noise and features Velodyne’s signature shape and style.

“The sound of these headphones is phenomenal. They’re for true music lovers and audiophiles,” said Velodyne President Marta Hall. “We just partnered with a major retailer that was blown away by the sound of our vQuiet. The public will hear more about this in the coming weeks.” Hall also said there will be more high-end headphone lines debuting in the coming weeks, including vLeve and vBold.

In addition to the Line Show itself, Velodyne’s headphones took center stage at the live FashionWare runway performance, which took place on the first evening of the show. The event, hosted by MC Valerie Smaldone and Nadeem Kassam, was perfect for showcasing Velodyne’s Designer Skin headphone fashion accessories. Velodyne’s Designer Skins feature original designs and can be used to customize and personalize vFree and vLeve headphones. Velodyne also showcased Designer Skins at their exhibit on the show floor.

Velodyne, known worldwide as the legacy audio company that invented subwoofer technology, also debuted its new Wi-Q wireless subwoofer. The Wi-Q, available this month at velodyne.com, features Velodyne’s patented Wi-Connect wireless system built into the subwoofer, as well as many of the subwoofer features that made Velodyne synonymous with bass technology.

In addition, Velodyne sponsored the second annual Women in CE event, “Empower Your Entrepreneurial Spirit-a Career Enhancement Forum,” which was also held at the Metropolitan Pavilion. The forum, which aims at empowering women to pursue careers in consumer electronics, included key speakers such as Kay Koplovitz, former chair of the National Women’s Business in 1998.
