MIAMISBURG, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Evenflo Company, Inc., a trusted partner in nurturing babies’ growth and development, is proud of its 93-year history of making innovative juvenile products in America and is committed to keeping jobs at home, as well as increasing manufacturing and product development stateside. The company is now embarking on a “Made in the USA” initiative to let consumers know that its car seats and ExerSaucer® activity centers are designed, engineered, molded, assembled and safety tested in the USA, with U.S. and global components.
Evenflo has consistently made investments in its Piqua, OH manufacturing plant with a focus on sustainability. The productivity and capacity gains behind the sustainability effort has made the plant more globally competitive and enabled the company to shift production of some items, whose production had migrated to China, back to the USA. The Piqua, Ohio plant molds and assembles about 90% of Evenflo’s car seats and the majority of the activity centers. Evenflo molds the car seat shells and activity center platforms - then assembles the finished car seats by adding buckles, belts, pads and fabric with over 80% of those components coming from US producers. The company also designs and engineers 100% of all products in Miamisburg, Ohio and tests 100% of all products at its own product testing facility in Piqua, Ohio. In addition, year-over-year since 2010, the company has brought manufacturing jobs back to its Ohio manufacturing facility and is committed to creating even more opportunities to grow its workforce in North America.
Evenflo is stepping up its marketing efforts beginning July 2013 to communicate “Made in the USA” via its packaging, website, and social media. Special labels on its car seat and ExerSaucer packaging will make it easy for consumers to identify products that are made in the USA. In-store, custom retail displays and “Made in the USA” branding on key Retailer websites will be leveraged to offer consumers easy access to the American made products they are searching for from a company they can trust. The company’s websites and social media channels have also been updated to communicate this message.
To give consumers a behind-the-scenes look at their manufacturing facility, Evenflo has also created a “Proudly Made in the USA” video that will be launched just in time for the July 4th holiday. The video, which will be live on the company’s website (www.evenflo.com) and EvenfloBaby Facebook page, will spotlight the people who work within the Ohio facility and the safety and quality-control testing that ensures parents are getting the very best products for their children.
“Our American heritage is a core part of our roots as a company, and we want to show our consumers our dedication to, and pride in, the fact that we invest in America,” says Evenflo Chief Executive Officer Scott Weiss. “As the global economy continues to evolve, we look for opportunities to bring jobs and work back to the U.S.”
Evenflo car seats and ExerSaucers that have been made here with U.S. and global parts are available at many retail outlets including Babies R’ US, Target, Wal-Mart and select specialty stores. For additional information, visit www.evenflo.com.
