ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--American West Jewelry is scheduled to debut a new line of jewelry on QVC® and QVC.com on Thursday, July 4 that features turquoise gemstones from the famed Sleeping Beauty mine in Globe, Ariz. More than a dozen new jewelry styles will feature Sleeping Beauty turquoise, which is known for its exceptionally high quality and vibrant sky blue color. The new collection showcases the distinctive blue hue of the gemstone in sterling silver jewelry settings, providing a modern and wearable update on classic jewelry designs of the American West.
The centerpiece of the new Sleeping Beauty line is a classic cluster ring with bezel set gemstones arranged in a beautiful floral pattern, a silhouette that originated with Zuni and Navajo jewelers. Other designs include tributes to the flora of the area, reflecting natural symbols traditionally used in Southwestern jewelry. The rich cultural heritage of the region can be seen in a najah pendant, a symbol of luck and protection worn by the Spanish, and later adopted by Native Americans in the region.
“Turquoise has been a long-time favorite gemstone of leading American designers and fashion icons,” said Carolyn Pollack, vice president of design at Relios, Inc., the company behind American West Jewelry, and the acclaimed designer of Carolyn Pollack Sterling Jewelry. “I’ve seen it appear on runways and red carpets as a leading fashion trend, and I know jewelry collectors will embrace this new line for its fashion-forward style and lasting value.”
Carolyn Pollack led the design team that developed the new Sleeping Beauty turquoise collection, and will appear on air during the presentation of the new American West Jewelry line to share the inspiration behind the designs and describe how the emotions of the West were translated into jewelry. During the QVC shows Carolyn Pollack will also suggest how collectors can incorporate the turquoise trend into their wardrobes.
“Turquoise jewelry embodies iconic American style and the romance and casual elegance of the West,” said Pollack. “Shoppers who want either a subtle pop of color or a bold American West look will find something to complement their style.”
Jewelry collectors exploring the turquoise trend for the first time will have the opportunity to choose among smaller scale, easy-to-wear silhouettes, while those looking for a bolder, layered look that evokes the adventurous lifestyle and fashion sense of the American West can select an entire suite of jewelry from the collection.
“As a company committed to designing and crafting jewelry in America, we’re proud to debut a new American-mined turquoise jewelry collection on the 4th of July, the most American holiday,” said Bill Pollack, president of Relios, Inc. “We are honored to bring collectors a new jewelry line that features Sleeping Beauty gems of such substantial size and impressive quality.”
Sleeping Beauty turquoise gets its name from the shape of the mountain where it is mined, often said to resemble a beautiful sleeping woman. The gemstone is a rich blue as clear and vibrant as the expansive skies of the West, a lively hue that captures the region’s sense of spirit, independence and adventure.
The new Sleeping Beauty turquoise jewelry line is scheduled to debut on QVC Thursday, July 4, during five shows: midnight-2 a.m. (ET), 3-4 a.m. (ET), 9-11 a.m. (ET), 1-3 p.m. (ET) and 8-11 p.m. (ET). The line will be available through QVC.com, the QVC apps and 800.345.1515, while supplies last.
Relios has been creating Southwestern-style sterling silver and gemstone jewelry in Albuquerque since 1975.
