BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Office Depot, Inc. (NYSE: ODP), a leading global provider of office and school supplies and services, today unveiled its new industry-leading rewards program that gives customers the freedom, flexibility and savings they deserve.
According to The 2013 Maritz Loyalty Report, conducted May 2013, consumers on average are enrolled in 7.4 loyalty programs. However, each year 53 percent of these members stop participating in at least one loyalty program a year, citing irrelevant reward offerings (68 percent) and slow reward accumulation (50 percent) as top barriers.
While many rewards programs fail to offer consumers rewards that directly benefit them, Office Depot Rewards provides members with a plethora of ways to earn and maximize points. Members can increase their rewards based on the way they shop for products and services, connect with the Company and recycle. Beginning July 1, customers can sign up for one of three membership types that best describes them: Local Businesses, Loyal Customers or Star Teachers. Members will then receive personalized offers designed exclusively for them.
Members will receive rewards certificates for every 1,000 points1 they earn, with many ways to earn points:
Shopping
Earn points on ink, toner, paper, and copy/print/ship services purchases (10% back).
Connecting
Earn points for letting Office Depot get to know you.
Recycling
Earn points for recycling your ink & toner cartridges.
One unique advantage of Office Depot’s new program is that customers can become “Choice Members” by spending $200 in a quarter, providing even more opportunities to save. By pre-selecting products, Choice Members will earn extra points on their favorite products including home, office and school supplies, writing instruments, computer accessories, furniture, cleaning and breakroom essentials, and much more.
“After analyzing several reward programs and listening to our shoppers, we wanted to develop a customer-centric program that gives members the flexibility to personalize their rewards,” said Bob Moore, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing and Merchandising Officer for Office Depot. “Office Depot Rewards is designed to offer shoppers more ways to earn points that reward them in ways that matter most to them.”
Unlike most rewards programs, Office Depot Rewards members get points for connecting with the Office Depot brand. Members will earn points for joining the program, completing their online member profile, and more.
Rewards certificates are now issued monthly, and members can access them from the new website, any time anywhere.
Additionally, Local Businesses, Loyal Customers and Star Teachers will save even more with special member-only access to special in-store events and exclusive pre-sale offers on new products.
