MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Effective January 1st 2014, Marchon’s licensing agreement with Fendi will expire, and will not be renewed.
“While we have had a successful collaboration with Fendi for many years, we have come to a mutual agreement with them on the conclusion and transition of our license,” says Claudio Gottardi, President and CEO.
Marchon’s history with Fendi goes back to 1991, beginning with a regional license for the Western Hemisphere. In 2005, the license expanded to include all global markets.
In the past 18 months Marchon has launched a number of global license agreements with luxury brands including Valentino, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Chloé. Marchon also recently announced the Nine West and G-Star licenses, the Dragon Alliance and Scandinavian Eyewear acquisitions as well as a number of new strategic global initiatives.
Gottardi added, “We are confident that this decision will help us focus on a new, innovative, and more profitable growth strategy for Marchon as we continue to evolve and expand the company in order to maximize global opportunities.”
The Fendi agreement with Marchon expires effective January 1, 2014 with a six month sell-off period. Marchon will honor existing Fendi eyewear consumer warranties.
