Vanguard Video Announces Availability of World’s First Real-Time Software H.265/HEVC Encoder Supporting Main10 Profile

PALO ALTO, Calif.--()--Vanguard Video, a leader in broadcast quality video compression technology, announced the latest release of V.265 which now supports the H.265/HEVC Main10 profile providing a 10-bit 4:2:0 codec for professional solutions. V.265 is a professional-level software codec based on the new H.265/HEVC International Standard. V.265 can deliver up to 50% reduction in bandwidth and improved video quality compared to that of the existing H.264 standard. V.265 already supports the H.265/HEVC Main profile for 8-bit 4:2:0 video.

“Studios, video content distributors, and broadcast companies require 10-bit video support for high-quality content including 4K UltraHD video resolution,” said Irena Terterov, CEO and Founder of Vanguard Video. “Leading companies are evaluating and integrating V.265 as they prepare their next generation video products for both 8-bit and 10-bit video systems. These companies are looking to Vanguard Video to provide the highest quality implementation of the H.265/HEVC International Standard including Main10 support.”

In January 2013 Vanguard Video was the first company to launch a professional H.265/HEVC encoder during CES 2013 supporting the HEVC Main profile for 8-bit 4:2:0 video. The company is now first to release support for the Main 10 profile for 10-bit 4:2:0 video in a real-time software H.265/HEVC codec.

The V.265 codec SDK provides a rich set of features to support OEMs in a broad range of industries including broadcast, internet video distribution, mobile live and offline streaming, and video telephony and telepresence. V.265 provides real-time performance at professional video quality levels to support broadcast and real-time streaming. V.265 is also highly configurable to generate the extremely high-quality video needed by major studios and content distribution companies.
