TAIPEI, Taiwan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AGGIOS®, the power design automation technology leader, announced today the availability of the CLIOS™ Power Manager for Mindspeed®'s Comcerto® 2000 Communications Processor. The CLIOS technology leverages the heterogeneous multi-core architecture of the Comcerto 2000 system-on-chip for advanced distributed power management and delivers optimum power consumption and latency for the system on chip, board and whole application device. CLIOS improves the performance of the standard OS power management in all active modes of operation and acts as a standalone power manager while the main OS is in suspend or idle modes delivering the lowest power saving modes unattainable with standard OS power management. CLIOS is the essential power management add-on when it comes to meeting energy regulations (e.g. European Code of Conduct for residential gateways), battery operating modes (e.g. emergency backup for security monitoring) or device sizing requirements for modern cost effective designs while reducing overall time-to-market and R&D investment.
“Our latest communication processor family is rapidly expanding into a variety of designs and applications with rigorous power management requirements,” said Marco E. Bello, executive director of marketing and product management for the communications processors business unit at Mindspeed. “By combining the Comcerto 2000 power management infrastructure with the AGGIOS power management solution our customers are now able to independently optimize the power and energy characteristics of their devices and reach the market faster.”
To simplify and accelerate adaptations of the CLIOS Power Manager to customer’s own designs, AGGIOS has developed and offers the EnergyLab™ tool. EnergyLab is used as the design, visualization, generation and test/measurement cockpit for all power related activities and serves as the configuration tool for the CLIOS Power Manager. The users of EnergyLab tool can among others create and edit descriptions of the hardware and software details of their application, export and import a variety of system and power description formats, including DTS, UPF/CPF and IP-XACT, represent the device and component hierarchy in graphical and tabular format, create and manage the UHA library (UHAL®) of components and devices and generate the application optimized CLIOS Power Manager. Also, the EnergyLab tool is integrated with physical power measurement and data acquisition devices of Agilent and National Instruments for automated measurement, test and verification of the power and energy data collected from multiple voltage rails, supply inputs and battery connections.
“With this release of the CLIOS product for the Comcerto 2000 processor the advanced power management technology previously found only in state-of-the–art mobile devices, like smartphones or tablets, is now available for deployment in a wide variety of power and energy sensitive applications in a time and cost effective way. We are pleased to welcome Mindspeed and their Comcerto 2000 customers to the community of CLIOS and EnergyLab users,” said Vojin Zivojnovic, President & CEO of AGGIOS.
