RYE BROOK, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Broadview Networks, a leading provider of cloud-based business communication services, and YAI, a non-profit organization that works to ensure that people with disabilities live as independent and productive members of our communities, will join forces again on June 1 for the 2013 Central Park Challenge in New York. This annual event helps raise money, increase awareness, and provide opportunities and support for people of all ages with developmental disabilities and their families. This is the sixth year Broadview has been the primary sponsor for the Central Park Challenge, which raised more than $1.5 million last year.
The Central Park Challenge typically attracts more than 10,000 participants to Central Park, where walkers, runners and families show their support for a truly worthy cause by joining in the 3K walk or the 5K run. Money raised at the Central Park Challenge will help support schools, music and art therapy, specialized nurses, group homes, healthcare services and other vital YAI programs.
Broadview’s participation in the Central Park Challenge goes well beyond its corporate contribution. Individual employees make their own contributions and raise money by encouraging friends and family to join them. Each year, Broadview employees from as far away as Philadelphia and Boston make the trip to Central Park for the event. Broadview’s team can be easily identified by their distinctive, brightly-colored t-shirts.
Founded in 1957, YAI is an organization of people with diverse skills and talents, all focused on helping individuals with disabilities achieve the fullest and most independent lives possible. It is dedicated to seeing beyond disability and changing outdated attitudes about people with disabilities and serves people of all ages with developmental disabilities and delays. Their reach extends throughout the greater New York metropolitan area, New Jersey, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
“We are proud to support such a worthy organization,” said Michael K. Robinson, Broadview’s Chief Executive Officer. “We value the close personal relationships that have formed over the past 15 years among Broadview’s employees and the YAI community. The YAI team truly helps improve the lives of people in the communities we serve, and we have seen that firsthand. Several of YAI’s consumers have become some of Broadview’s dedicated team members. In addition, the walk in the park gives us a chance to bring hundreds of the Broadview family together once a year to support a great cause.”
