BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Race Administration Systems (RAS), an application built with Alpha Software’s Alpha Five development platform, has made it much easier for race organizers to manage all aspects of their events, from registration to results. RAS was recently used at both the Los Angeles Marathon, which saw more than 20,000 participants, and Philadelphia’s Broad Street Run, with more than 40,000 runners.
Simmco Data Systems, the company behind RAS, uses the application to manage all aspects of endurance sports events. As part of the registration process, RAS enables data entry personnel to locate prior year’s data and automates the sending of registration confirmation notices. It also generates demographic profiles of race participants, and provides race administrators with access to prior year results.
RAS also tracks the type of race that is being run -- marathon, half-marathon, 10-Mile, etc. -- as well as the participant categories, such as runner, wheelchair or handcycle participant. In addition, the application meets the requirements of races that report results by age and sex, and dynamically produces relevant reports and results.
“Alpha Five has allowed me to time and support some of the largest endurance sports events in the world, and RAS has become a standard for my events and others that I support,” said David Simms, of Simmco Systems. “RAS is both an online and offline management system and allows for easy synchronization once I regain an internet connection, which isn’t always available given the out-of-the-way location of some of these events. By the end of this year I will have all my clients moved to RAS.”
