BEIJING--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mark Ren, Chief Operation Officer (COO), President of Interactive Entertainment Group and Mobile Internet Group of Tencent, has recently been confirmed to join Advisory Board of ChinaJoy World Mobile Game Conference (WMGC) as an honorary advisor. The conference will be held at Kerry Hotel Pudong, Shanghai on July 25-26, 2013 and its exhibition at Hall W4 of Shanghai New International Expo Centre on July 26-27.
According to the organizer Howell International Trade Fair Ltd., the preparatory work is well under way, including topic selection, speaker invitation and sponsor recruitment.
Mr. Ren graduated in 1998 from the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China and received an EMBA Degree from China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in 2008. Previously he worked for Huawei Technologies and joined Tencent in 2000. Prior to his current position, he served as General Manager of the Value-Added Services Development Division and the General Manager of the Interactive Entertainment Business Division, and then was responsible for game development, operation, marketing and channel sales of the Interactive Entertainment Business starting September 2005. He assumed the position of COO in May 2012, currently in charge of Interactive Entertainment Group, Mobile Internet Group and Social Network Group.
As he pointed out in his speech delivered at ChinaJoy2010, China’s online game industry has entered the third stage amid rapid development of new games following the initial stage starting with nothing and the second stage with the free-of-charge business model prevailing. Tencent will continue its exploration in the industry in the fields of mobile phone, mobile terminal and social network. Meanwhile, it expects to jointly develop new games with industry players from home and abroad.
