BARCELONA & BUCHAREST--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Scytl, the world leader in secure online voting and election modernization today announces the use of Scytl’s e-Election Platform Online Voting module to support the online voting channel for the TNL Primaries 2013 in Bucharest taking place May 18th. The solution will allow for the secure configuration and operation of the election, tallying of votes and the production of results and participation reports.
During the TNL Primaries, 3,500 voters will use the online channel to answer questions relative to proposed closed lists of candidates. The solution will cover the configuration of the election, creation of cryptographic credentials, creation of the interface via which voters can cast their secure digital ballot, the vote mixing process and vote tallying. The voting procedure is expected to last no more than two hours, allowing two minutes for each delegate to use any of the 60 workstations. In reality, a person familiarized with the system will require no more than one minute to complete the voting. Results are expected in no more than 30 minutes, a distinct improvement over the classical procedure, which lasted between four and five hours.
“As the organisation representing the youth of the National Liberal Party of Romania, we hold a deep conviction that young people are the powerhouse driving organizations towards better management solutions, new business approaches, and the use of innovative and secure technology. In these elections, we wanted to promote participation and were looking for ways to streamline the whole process,” says Florin-Alexandru Alexe, MP, President of TNL. “This is the first time we will be using an online channel and we are confident that Scytl´s innovative solution will make the process more efficient now and in future elections,” Mr. Alexe concludes.
“We are pleased with the selection of our Scytl Online Voting solution to support the online voting channel for the TNL Primaries 2013. We are confident that our online voting solution, our advanced cryptographic protocols and election management experience will ensure that this election will be the latest in a long line of successful – and fully auditable – election events for political parties around the globe,” concludes Andy Tye, General Manager EMEA, Scytl.

About TNL
Tineretul National Liberal (National-Liberal Youth) is the youth organization of the National Liberal Party of Romania. It boasts an impressive history: it was created in 1876, following the founding of the mother party just one year previously. In recent years, the youth organisation has invested much time and energy in training its members and in developing new ways to engage the citizens and promote participation in the electoral process. As a direct result of these efforts, an increasingly large number of local and national leaders – from local councillors to members of Parliament and members of the Government – have come from the ranks of the TNL.
