German Airport Operator Fraport Picks SAS® Visual Analytics on Pivotal

Frankfurt-based company uses high-performance analytics to control operations, data exploration

CARY, N.C.--()--To monitor and control airport operations, Fraport AG relies on high-performance analytics from SAS, the leader in business analytics. By migrating its SAS® Business Analytics platform to SAS High-Performance Analytics, the Frankfurt-based company harnesses today's most advanced approach analyzing vast quantities of data – big data – generated from flight operations.

Additionally, Fraport has implemented SAS Visual Analytics on a Pivotal™ DCA (formerly EMC® Greenplum® DCA). Pivotal is setting the new standard for enterprise platform-as-a-service (PaaS). Optimized by Pivotal and SAS for big data analytics, the appliance ensures extremely high performance for Fraport.

"We need to analyze massive quantities of data in real time. SAS High-Performance Analytics is the perfect solution for us," explains Dieter Steinmann, Senior Manager of Information and Communication Services for Business Systems at Fraport. "In addition to the extra speed, we're looking forward to new opportunities for data exploration and visualization with SAS Visual Analytics."

By implementing SAS High-Performance Analytics, Fraport will reduce total operating costs and boost analytical performance.

"Fraport is the perfect example of an analytics-driven organization," said Wolf Lichtenstein, Vice President for the DACH (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) region for SAS. "At an early stage, the responsible parties recognized the importance of analytics competency for the future of the company and set the course accordingly. I think this is absolutely exemplary across all industrial sectors."

"With its decision in favor of big data analytics, Fraport is creating a huge competitive advantage for itself. We are very pleased that, together with SAS, we can provide the technology basis for this," said Sabine Bendiek, Managing Director of EMC Germany.
