DETROIT--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Grant Thornton LLP has named Dan Zittnan, 58, office managing partner of its Detroit practice effective August 1. Most recently, Zittnan served as office managing partner of the firm’s Cleveland practice.
Zittnan succeeds Vince Tomkinson who will become the office managing partner of the firm’s Chicago practice effective August 1.
“Dan has been integral to the growth of the firm’s Cleveland office during the past five years,” said Mike Hall, Midwest region managing partner for Grant Thornton. “His proven leadership skills and career-long focus on serving dynamic organizations will undoubtedly contribute to the continued success of our Detroit office.”
Zittnan has more than 30 years of experience working with entrepreneurial, high-growth companies, particularly in the manufacturing, distribution and professional services industries. Previously, he served as the Professional Standards partner for the firm’s Chicago office and the Midwest region. Prior to joining Grant Thornton, he spent 14 years with Arthur Andersen before leaving there as a partner to become the chief financial officer for a small public company for several years.
He serves on the board of directors of the Providence House and is a member of the finance committees of St. Ignatius High School and the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland. He is also involved with Shelter, Inc., which provides community-based, emergency and temporary housing for children and adolescents in Chicago. He is a member of the 2010 Class of Leadership Cleveland.
Zittnan is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Illinois Society of Certified Public Accountants and is a certified public accountant licensed in Michigan. He received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from DePaul University.
