Peter Vonk Joins SinoLatin Capital’s Board

Former CAF Executive Brings over 30 Years of Emerging Markets Experience in Latin America

SHANGHAI--()--SinoLatin Capital, an investment firm focused on natural resource transactions between China and Latin America, is pleased to announce that Peter Vonk will be joining SinoLatin Capital as Independent Board Director. Mr. Vonk is a seasoned veteran in financing and investing in Latin America with over 30 years of experience.

Peter Vonk held the position of Corporate Vice President to the Productive and Financial Sector of Corporación Andina de Fomento (CAF) from 2002 to August 2012. As part of his vice-presidency, Mr. Vonk was responsible for providing various financial products and services for the development of the private sector in CAF’s shareholder countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. Additionally, he participated in investment funds and provided financial advisory services to the different governments in their dealings with the private sector and the raising of finance and equity for projects and companies.

Previous to Mr. Vonk’s position at CAF, he was a Director at Morgan Grenfell/Deutsche Bank from 1990 until early 2002, responsible for business in Venezuela, Central America and the Caribbean. Additionally, in this position he worked extensively in the Andean countries. His responsibilities at Deutsche Bank included origination and execution of corporate and structured finance transactions, mergers and acquisitions, privatizations, among other services. Before working for Deutsche Bank, he was Vice-President at the Chase Manhattan Bank, Director at Banco Mercantil (Venezuela), and F. Van Lanschot Bankiers (The Netherlands). Mr. Vonk has participated in a great number of transactions in the main sectors of economic activity in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Guatemala, El Salvador, Panama, Dominican Republic and Trinidad & Tobago.

Mr. Vonk holds a degree in Pedagogy and studied Economics at the Institute for Social Science in The Hague. Additionally, he has participated as a speaker in numerous conferences related to financing and investing in the Latin American and development of the private sector in the region.
