SUWANEE, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mitsubishi Electric US Cooling & Heating Division, America’s No. 1 selling brand of ductless cooling and heating technology, today celebrates the grand opening of its new headquarters in Suwanee, Ga., at 1340 Satellite Blvd. As the Division’s fifth headquarters in Gwinnett County since it began operations here in 1992, the facility represents the Cooling & Heating Division’s strong growth and continuing long-term investment in Gwinnett County and the greater Atlanta region.
“We’re investing in Georgia so we can be more competitive and quicker to market,” says Kenichiro Yamanishi, president and CEO, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Tokyo. “This warehouse will hold literally tons of product ready to ship anywhere in the Americas. Our engineering center will host a wide depth of talent. Products designed and stored here will not only serve the U.S. market but the global market as well.”
Mitsubishi Electric US Cooling & Heating Division plans to hire more than 100 engineers, warehouse workers and others locally over the next three years to add to its approximately 300 U.S.-wide employee base.
The new facility was designed by Macgregor Associates Architects, Atlanta, and built by Industrial Developments International (IDI), Atlanta, to meet the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED® certification standards and the Green Globes assessment and rating system. The 550,000-square-foot facility is nearly twice the size of the Cooling & Heating Division’s former space and now includes the Division’s headquarters, an engineering center, a professional training center and warehouse space.
“In the 20 years we have called Gwinnett County home, we have outgrown four offices,” offers Shuji Morisaki, senior vice president, general manager, Mitsubishi Electric US Cooling & Heating Division. “Our Division has experienced double-digit growth over the past five years, and we fully expect this to continue moving forward. We’re pleased to be in this spacious new location that accommodates our continuing expansion.”
The Cooling & Heating Division’s new headquarters is one of many key investments that Mitsubishi Electric Corporation has made in North America in recent years as it works to strengthen its global presence. Along with recently expanded manufacturing facilities in Memphis, Tenn., and Pittsburgh, Mitsubishi Electric will open its first North American HVAC production facility in Mexico in October 2013 to serve the U.S. and Latin American markets.
