SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Draper University, a boarding school for aspiring entrepreneurs from around the world, today announced scholarships in recognition of Tina Seelig, who holds a PhD in Neuroscience from Stanford University and is recognized for her diverse body of work in the field of creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship. The scholarships were created to inspire the next generation of groundbreaking entrepreneurs with engineering or life sciences backgrounds. For the upcoming summer and fall sessions, with the aid of Seelig, Draper University will select one exemplary recipient to attend each session.

Seelig is passionate about creativity, exploring what makes people more innovative, and finding ways to stimulate idea generation in others. She has spent her life engaged in innovation – as a consultant for Booz, Allen, and Hamilton, as a multimedia producer at Compaq Computer Corporation and as founder of a multimedia company called BookBrowser. Currently Seelig serves as the executive director for the Stanford Technology Ventures Program (STVP). In addition, she is the director of the National Center for Engineering Pathways to Innovation (Epicenter), and faculty member at the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design (d.school) at the Stanford School of Engineering. Seelig has authored 16 science books and educational games, her two most recent books, published by HarperCollins, are What I Wish I Knew When I Was 20 (2009), and inGenius: A Crash Course on Creativity (2012).

Draper University is a boarding school for young entrepreneurs from all over the world. The innovative curriculum is designed to inspire, cultivate, and educate students who dream to build companies that change the world around them. Draper University offers four sessions a year and is intended for entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 to 26. The program teaches startup fundamentals combined with personal mentoring and fun, experiential activities, which include a steady stream of events connecting students with the entrepreneurial world of Silicon Valley. Each student will create a business, or refine their existing business, over the duration of the program, which culminates with a business pitch competition to a panel of venture capitalists, where students have the opportunity to obtain funding for their business.
