Gander Mountain Launches Online Pledge to Raise Awareness Regarding Responsible Firearms Ownership

www.ResponsibilityPledge.com Drives Initiative: ‘With Rights Comes Responsibility; Secure Your Firearms’

ST. PAUL, Minn.--()--As part of its “With Rights Comes Responsibility; Secure Your Firearms” initiative, Gander Mountain today launched www.ResponsibilityPledge.com, where firearms owners and those thinking of becoming an owner can take a pledge of personal responsibility.

The pledge is part of Gander Mountain’s commitment to responsible firearms ownership, including rallying the country around the importance of guarding against firearms getting into the hands of the under-aged, untrained and unauthorized. At www.ResponsibilityPledge.com, people who take the pledge can immediately share it via Facebook and Twitter, with the hashtag #ResponsibilityPledge.

The website includes a call-to-action video from NASCAR star Clint Bowyer, who on Wednesday joined Gander Mountain in announcing the “With Rights Comes Responsibility; Secure Your Firearms” initiative. Gander Mountain will sponsor Michael Waltrip Racing’s No. 15 car driven by Bowyer in the Sprint Cup Series NRA 500 on Saturday, April 13, at Texas Motor Speedway. The car will include a call for Americans to take the pledge.

“The response since we announced the ‘With Rights Comes Responsibility; Secure Your Firearms’ initiative Wednesday has been overwhelming and so positive. People were anxious to take the pledge, and now they can at www.ResponsibilityPledge.com,” said Steve Uline, executive vice president of marketing for Gander Mountain. “This is only the beginning. We’re committed to making this a movement, and excited about the boost it will receive next week at the Texas race.

“Even in the case of owners who understand the importance of responsibility, everyone should take the opportunity to revisit the security of their firearms.”

Sponsorship of Bowyer’s No. 15 at Texas is just one facet of Gander Mountain’s integrated marketing and communications effort driving the “With Rights Comes Responsibility; Secure Your Firearms” initiative. In addition to pledge at GanderMountain.com, the company is raising awareness via newspaper advertising, website presence, social media and point-of-sale this month, with additional responsibility initiatives planned for later in the year.

Gander Mountain’s commitment to responsible ownership goes beyond marketing, including training thousands of firearms users annually via safety classes and private instruction. Also, Gander Mountain is initiating a company policy calling for all employees to ask all customers who purchase a firearm if they are properly equipped to safeguard it.
