AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), the largest global AIDS organization, is announcing the official launch of Argentinian operations today with a press conference in the Recoleta neighborhood of Buenos Aires. Notable attendees will include AHF President Michael Weinstein, Chief of AHF’s Latin American Bureau Dr. Patricia Campos, and the directors of several Argentinian AIDS and LGBT institutions and organizations that operate at the local and national levels.

“We are so excited to launch testing, treatment services, and condom distribution in Argentina with the help of our in-country partners,” said Dr. Campos. “This cooperation between government and non-government organizations will benefit a huge number of people in several provinces and, as our network expands, Argentinian citizens throughout the country.”

"There is not a single country in the world where people do not need help in terms of HIV prevention and care," said AHF President Weinstein. "When we are invited to help, we seek opportunities to provide assistance wherever possible and to as many people as we can reach -- that is the heart of our global mission."

The launch will be followed by a dance performance and condom promotion event where free condoms will be handed out to remind people that condoms are an effective and important tool in preventing the spread of HIV.

AHF first announced Argentina as its 28th partner country on December 1, 2012 – World AIDS Day – when AHF Argentina, under the guidance of AHF Global Ambassador Dr. Jorge Saavedra, with coordination by Dr. Miguel Pedrola and Dr. Sergio Lupo, set a new Guinness World Record for Most People Tested For HIV In One City In One Day. The group tested 3,733 individuals in an eight-hour period in Rosario City.
