NORTHVILLE, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mitsubishi Electric Corporation announced today that it is investing approximately $33 million US (Mex$500 million) to build a new facility for automotive components in Mexico. The facility will be located in the State of Queretaro, an industrial center north of Mexico City. Groundbreaking for the new plant will begin in April 2013 with operations expected to commence October 2014.
“With the continued turnaround and growth of the automotive industry in both North and South America, building this plant will increase our capacity and allow us to better compete and meet the needs of our customers throughout this hemisphere,” said Mike DeLano, Group Sales President Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America, Inc.
The plant, which will be referred to as Mitsubishi Electric Automotive de Mexico, S.A. de C.V., will produce components such as starters and alternators for the automotive marketplace.
