LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In 2011, the APAC region had about 2.6 million high net worth individuals (HNWIs) with a combined wealth of USD 10.6 trillion, making up 15.6% of the worldwide HNWI population (16.8 million people). China accounted for the majority of the region’s HNWIs – 49%, or 1,280,000 HNWIs. Australia had 274,000 HNWIs (10.4% of APAC), followed by India, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore.
There were 23,800 ultra high net worth individuals (UHNWIs) in the region in 2011, up 31% compared to 18,210 individuals in 2007. During the same period, 33% of APAC UHNWIs were based in China (7,905 UHNWIs), followed by Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia.
