Bodybuilding.com Launches $100,000 Transformation Challenge to Help with New Year’s Fitness Resolutions

Registration is open for annual challenge, which provides tools and motivation to help people meet their fitness goals

BOISE, Idaho--()--Many people make a New Year’s resolution to lose weight or get in shape, but often find it difficult to stick to those resolutions. Offering solutions for achieving fitness goals, Bodybuilding.com and Dymatize Nutrition are kicking off registration for their 2013 $100,000 Transformation Challenge, which offers workout programs and nutritional advice designed to help people overcome common challenges to achieving their fitness goals.

The Bodybuilding.com $100,000 Transformation Challenge encourages people to get fit and to positively transform their bodies. People age 18 and older in the U.S., Canada (except Quebec) and E.U. can register for free for the Challenge through January 31 at www.bodybuilding.com/100k. After signing up, registrants can choose any one of Bodybuilding.com’s easy-to-follow 12-week training programs from fitness experts such as Jamie Eason and Kizzito Ejam, which provide specific workouts, diet recommendations and tips to ensure success. Throughout the contest, participants also have access to free, up-to-date resources on nutrition, workouts, motivation and supplementation on Bodybuilding.com.

“This Challenge is a great way to ensure that anyone of any age has the right tools – whether you want to get in shape, lose some weight, or you’re training to compete,” said Jamie Eason, Bodybuilding.com athlete and trainer. “The program, the exercise and diet advice, the tracking and the resources are as close as you can get to having a personal trainer and nutritionist, and the online community helps motivate people to stay on track toward achieving their fitness goals.”

One grand prize winner will be selected by a panel of judges from Bodybuilding.com and Dymatize Nutrition on or around May 22 based on greatest physical improvement (fat loss or muscle gain) as well as how inspirational they have been to others via Bodybuilding.com’s social network, BodySpace. The grand prize winner will receive:

  • $50,000 (USD) Cash
  • $2,000 (USD) Bodybuilding.com credit for Dymatize Nutrition products
  • One-year gym membership
  • B-Elite performance apparel by Bodybuilding.com
  • All-expense paid trip to the Bodybuilding.com Fitness Expo in Boise, Idaho
  • Photo/video shoot with Bodybuilding.com’s video crew to share their transformation story

The panel of judges will also name two first, second and third place winners – one weight loss and one muscle building – who will also receive a combination of cash, gift certificates to Bodybuilding.com, gym memberships and clothing packages.

Last year, more than 15,000 people registered and participated in the 2012 $100,000 Transformation Challenge. Winners Laura McGraw and Halidu Shokunbi succeeded in completely transforming their bodies and drastically improving their health, in addition to helping motivate others to do the same.

Motivation, planning and social support are key to success

People who sign up for the $100,000 Transformation Challenge will become members of BodySpace, the world’s largest health and fitness social network, which has more than 1.5 million members who connect with one another for motivation, tips, encouragement and advice. The platform includes a mobile app and a personal calendar, making it easy for contestants to track their workouts and progress toward their goals.

In the past year, members of BodySpace who were aiming to lose weight have lost 823,066 pounds, and more than 4,500 people moved from obesity to a healthy weight based on percentage of body fat.

“One of the things that trips people up when it comes to getting fit is that it’s difficult to find that perfect balance of nutrition, exercise and supplementation,” said Ryan DeLuca, CEO of Bodybuilding.com. “We created this Challenge three years ago as a way to help people get started and to put those pieces together. It has changed lives, and we are excited to see the transformations this New Year brings.”
