BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--To help travelers get the most out of the upcoming holiday and winter season, the historic Omni Parker House in Boston will offer guests multiple ways to have holiday fun - from getaway packages to spirited cocktails - all designed to help travelers get out and enjoy the New England winter.
For the third consecutive year, the Omni Parker House will host a dramatic performance of the Charles Dickens favorite “A Christmas Carol” on Sunday, December 16 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Press Room, the same room as the literary great’s first-ever reading of the classic novel.
Heading back to the year 1876, Al LePage will bring to life Dickens’ script and acting style while entertaining audiences with his one-man solo using gestures, accents and expressions to create all 26 characters. Guests can enjoy traditional warm spiced cider and mince tarts while listening, and the original brass key from Charles Dickens’ room in the Parker House during his two-year residency at the hotel will be shown and passed for guests to see. Tickets can be purchased in advance at brownpapertickets.com for $20.31 (with service fees included) and at the door for $18.67. All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit The Greater Boston Food Bank.
The property is offering an “A Christmas Carol” stay package featuring deluxe accommodations and two tickets to Al LePage's performance of “A Christmas Carol" on December 16. The package also includes a breakfast buffet for each guest in Parker's Restaurant. Rates begin at $189 and the package can be booked now through December 16, with a required stay on December 16.
The property will also have the honor of hosting WBUR 90.9 during a reading of “A Christmas Carol” on Tuesday, December 18. This event will help raise funds for Rosie’s Place, an organization that has placed homeless women in homes since 1974.
The Omni Parker House will also participate in the Boston’s Historic Holiday Stroll provided by The Freedom Trail Foundation. The Historic Holiday Stroll allows guests to step back in time with costumed tour guides in 19th century Dickensian garb that will lead visitors along the historic Freedom Trail. Guests can revisit the days when Boston hosted the triumphant American premiere of the holiday classic "A Christmas Carol” and hear how holiday traditions evolved in Boston while experiencing highlights of the American Revolution. The tour will round off with hot chocolate, tea or wine and Boston Cream Pie at the Omni Parker House. Tours will begin November 17, 2012 and run throughout the end of January 31, 2013.
