WOBURN, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Further expanding its executive management team and accelerating its entry into the enterprise market, Pneuron Corporation today announced the appointment of Thomas C. Fountain as CTO. He will report to Simon Moss, CEO.
As chief technology officer, Fountain will be responsible for shaping product direction and market positioning of Pneuron’s patent-pending, distributed-solutions platform. He will also work closely with customers, addressing their critical IT business needs and re-defining the price-performance curve for complex business problems that have not been served successfully through traditional, enterprise data warehouses or “big data” solutions.
"We’re delighted to welcome Tom as Pneuron’s CTO,” says Moss. “With over 20 years of experience, half in CIO roles at large multi-national companies, he brings a tremendous amount of experience in assessing and responding to enterprise customers’ needs based on his experience at GE, Honeywell and Bunge. He’s also representative of the experience, creativity and intellectual horsepower we’re adding to Pneuron’s executive management team as we move more deeply into the enterprise market space.”
In reviewing cost, time-to-market and time-to-value advantages that Pneuron brings to the enterprise market, Fountain shared his thoughts on Pneuron’s corporate blog, writing, “With rapidly evolving new technologies, there is a real opportunity for CIOs, CTOs and architects to think differently about how they serve the total breadth of customer analytics demand. Just like the business serving external customers, IT has an opportunity to segment demand and develop focused strategies to serve each segment. The resulting multi-alternative approach may well yield a lower total-cost-of environment for the enterprise.”
Fountain recently served as global CIO at Bunge Ltd, a $50 billion global agribusiness firm where he led IT strategy and governance to maximize leverage across their global footprint. He joined Bunge from Honeywell where he rose to the position of vice president, CIO for their $5.2 billion specialty materials business group. Previously, he held CIO roles at GE divisions where he led business process improvement programs which integrated organizational development, information technology and Six Sigma strategies. His background also includes technical and product management roles at Dell, Martin-Marietta and Hewlett-Packard and at the CIA.
He earned a BSEE in electrical engineering at MIT and both an MS in electrical engineering and an MBA in business administration at Duke University.
