LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Betty White and her friends at The Lifeline Program are adopting an American Black Bear at the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens in honor of Ed Asner, who turns 83 this Thursday, November 15.
Ed wrote to Betty, "Ask the bear when he dies if I can have his coat."
Betty White said, "Asked about my favorite animal, I usually answer the bear. What better for my beloved Ed Asner?"
Since their seven-year co-starring run on the “Mary Tyler Moore Show,” Betty and Ed have been fast friends. Both won multiple Emmys for their work on the hit series. Now over forty years later, Ed joins Betty for a guest role on her current hit TV Land show, “Hot in Cleveland.” The episode is airing this season.
The Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association's "Adopt an Animal Program" enables anyone to assist in the care and upkeep of one of the zoo's terrific residents.
