AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s (AHF) innovative ‘Vote Yes on B’ big rig tour — a groundbreaking two week pre-election tour of AHF’s specially-designed 70-foot long, 18 wheel ‘Vote Yes on B’ big rig truck will host its final community appearance before tomorrow’s historic election TODAY Monday, November 5th (12 noon to 4:00 p.m.) in Glassell Park (Fletcher Drive & San Fernando Boulevard) — to promote L.A. County Ballot Measure B and safer sex in the adult film industry.

Over the past three weeks, the ‘Yes on B’ big rig has been stopping in select cities, towns and events throughout Los Angles County urging Angelenos to vote ‘Yes’ on Measure B, formally known as The Los Angeles County Safer Sex in the Adult Film Industry Act. Supporters & advocates handed out voter information as well as 1.1 million free condoms as part of the awareness campaign leading up to the election.

The ‘Vote Yes on B’ ballot measure, spearheaded by AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) and members of FAIR (‘For Adult Industry Responsibility’), comes after as many as 22 HIV infections believed to be tied to the adult film industry were reported in two outbreaks in Los Angeles since 2004, and amidst thousands of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) occurring annually among adult performers. The ballot measure also comes at a time when an outbreak of syphilis, a highly contagious, but curable STI, has roiled L.A.’s adult film industry and shut down the entire industry for several weeks earlier this summer.

Measure B is fairly straightforward in what it requires when voted into law November 6: 1) adult film producers must obtain public health permits from the County, 2) they must then follow all safety laws including condom use and availability on set, and 3) it allows for the collection permit fees to pay for enforcement, which would be spot enforcement. Ballot Measure B has been endorsed by the Los Angeles County Medical Association (LACMA), The California STD Controllers Association (CSTDA) and La Opinión, the largest Spanish language newspaper in the United States and second most read paper in Los Angeles.
