ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Eric Alexander de Groot, a Sandy Springs entrepreneur, is praising the Nov. 1 groundbreaking of Emerson, Ga.’s LakePoint Sporting Community and Town Center. This approximately 1200-acre mixed-use development project adjacent to Lake Allatoona just north of Atlanta, anticipates traffic of four million yearly visitors and could produce more than 20,000 jobs.
“This is an exciting day for Georgia,” de Groot said. “Developing LakePoint Sporting Community and Town Center will be an excellent boost to our local economy, and a multi-dimensional resource for the greater Atlanta community, and its millions of visitors, for years to come.”
de Groot’s development project, Mini America, a theme park showcasing famous American landmarks in miniature, will focus on entertainment, education and environmental sustainability. Mini America will be located within the LakePoint Sports Complex. This family-oriented park will create more jobs for Georgia, and potentially attract millions of visitors; drawing much needed revenue to the state.
LakePoint’s partners include former and current Atlanta Braves’ Bobby Cox, Fredi Gonzales and Ned Yost. The facility will host more than 17 types of sports on-site. Also included:
- The largest synthetic sports surfacing installation in the world;
- An entertainment village;
- A lake village;
- An outdoor adventure village; and
- A medical/research village.
According to de Groot, this business diversity truly encompasses the spirit and entrepreneurship of the American Dream. This patriotism, and desire to promote unification and revitalization is the message I want to foster across the United States in a soon-to-be-announced grassroots tour to promote Mini America’s development. “Being able to see America come alive in miniature is thrilling. It’s all about U.S.,” he added.
