SYDNEY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Atlassian, a leading provider of enterprise collaboration software for product development teams, today announced that it won two prestigious awards in this year's Australian HR Awards presented by Key Media, publishers of Human Capital magazine. Atlassian, one of Australia's most successful technology companies, received the Best Recruitment Strategy and Most Innovative Use of Technology awards. The Australian HR Awards brings together industry leaders to celebrate excellence in the Human Resources (HR) profession, recognising individuals, teams and companies for outstanding achievements in people management.
"We are thrilled to receive the Australian HR Awards for recruitment and technology innovation," said Atlassian's Vice President of Talent Joris Luijke. "We strive hard to create an environment where people want to come to work and we are constantly looking for ways to improve how we recruit, develop our talent and incorporate employee feedback."
Atlassian received the Best Recruitment Strategy award for its “Europe, We’re Coming to Steal Your Geeks” campaign where the company set out to hire 15 developers in 15 days with a bus tour through four European cities. Atlassian's HR team conducted interviews and informational evenings at local European restaurants and pubs to attract highly skilled developers with an all-expenses-paid relocation package to Sydney. The company's "reverse brain-drain campaign" went viral in Europe earlier this year, attracting more than a thousand qualified applicants.
"Finding talented engineers in Australia is possible, but not easy due to a technical skills shortage we're experiencing in Australia," explained Luijke. "We decided to draw programming talent from Europe by showing them the benefits of relocating to our Australian ‘Silicon Beach.' The results amazed us."
Atlassian also received the Most Innovative Use of Technology award for its MoodApp, an iPad app developed in-house to monitor staff mood. iPads, strategically positioned at the exits of all Atlassian buildings globally, ask employees questions about different aspects of their workday. The questions rotate throughout the week and when employees enter their responses, the app automatically shares the updated aggregated survey responses.
“Our MoodApp tells us on a daily basis what our employees are thinking. It monitors engagement levels or staff opinions over time and unlike other traditional employee surveys, it provides almost instant feedback on our strategies," said Luijke. "It's like a mood ring for the whole office."
To accommodate employee growth, Atlassian recently relocated its Sydney office to Level 6, 341 George Street. The company currently has openings for experienced developers and engineers, among other positions. For more information, interested applicants can view job openings here.
