Punchey Expands Executive Team with VP of Sales Matthew D’Souza

SMB and Digital Commerce Veteran Tapped to Lead Rapid Adoption of the Payments Platform that Helps Small Business Grow

BOSTON--()--Punchey, the payments platform company that helps small businesses grow, today announced that Matthew D’Souza has joined its executive team as Vice President of Sales. With more than a decade of experience helping small and medium sized businesses navigate many areas of digital commerce, D’Souza will be responsible for orchestrating the company’s national sales rollout and developing a high integrity sales culture that delivers top-line revenue growth.

D’Souza joins Punchey from Yodle, a leader in local online marketing, where he served most recently as sales director for Boston and New York. In that capacity, he was responsible for all aspects of the sales process including hiring, training, mentoring, managing and coaching sales teams. Prior to Yodle, D’Souza spent six years at Yahoo! HotJobs, where he ultimately led national sales efforts targeting small and medium sized companies.

“Matt has a reputation for consistently delivering stellar results, knocking down sales quotas, and helping small businesses across the country,” said Punchey’s CEO Nathaniel Stevens, who previously founded Yodle. “I have no doubt that under Matt's stewardship, Punchey will develop a sales force that sets the standard for how marketing and merchant services are sold to small businesses around the globe.”

Punchey helps small business grow by providing them with a unique solution that combines cost-effective payment processing along with powerful marketing tools. Service and retail businesses can accept payments on the go via Punchey's iOS-compatible mobile card reader, at the counter with its PC or Mac-compatible card reader, or over the phone by way of its online terminal. Each transaction creates or updates a customer account, removing many of the expensive and time consuming hurdles that small businesses face when managing customer relationships.

“Punchey gives tremendous power to small businesses by leveling the playing field with large companies that have been challenging their survival,” said D’Souza. “With economies of scale on their side, big business can afford the expensive fees from credit card companies and the latest customer relationship, marketing automation or sales analytics tools that, traditionally, have been out of reach for SMBs. Punchey is a great equalizer, and I’m excited to help build the team and start working with small businesses nationwide.”
