Peter Bauer, CEO and Co-Founder of Mimecast®, the leading supplier of cloud-based email archiving, security and continuity for Microsoft Exchange and Office 365, will lead the session, “Founding Principles vs. Scaling Principles” at the Business of Software Conference in Boston, Massachusetts on Monday, October 1 at 4:30pm EST. In his presentation, Mr. Bauer will address the evolving role of a company’s founder and discuss the major leadership differences between starting and growing a company.
Since co-founding Mimecast in 2003, Mr. Bauer has built a global company with over 330 employees, over 6,000 customers and recently secured $62 million in Series C funding from Insight Venture Partners to focus on further technological innovation and international expansion. Throughout his session, Mr. Bauer will share the lessons and challenges encountered while growing Mimecast; address how his role within the organization evolved as the company grew; and compare and contrast the core differences between founding principles and scaling principles to help existing business leaders and entrepreneurs successfully navigate potential leadership obstacles. Prior to co-founding and leading Mimecast, Mr. Bauer’s career began in South Africa, where he founded FAB Technology, an integrator of internet and messaging technologies, which was acquired in 1998 by Idion.
