Research and Markets: China Sourcing Report: Home Entertainment - 2012 - More Than 1,000 Companies Make up the Home Entertainment Pool

DUBLIN--()--Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/dbcf7q/china_sourcing) has announced the addition of the "China Sourcing Report: Home Entertainment - 2012" report to their offering.

China continues to solidify its status as the world's largest manufacturing base for home entertainment products. Output and exports are expected to remain stable or rise this year. Makers are exploring opportunities in emerging markets to cover for the shortfall in demand from major destinations Europe and North America.

To penetrate segments that can boost margins, companies are developing more high-value products, matching trends for high definition, 3D playback, smart features and low power consumption. At the same time, they continue to sustain the entry- and midlevel selections to cater to price-sensitive markets.

This report covers the major products of China's home entertainment industry, namely TVs, speakers and systems, set-top boxes, and video players and recorders.

Key Findings

1. Nearly half of interviewed suppliers plan to raise export prices in coming months to cope with labor cost and currency challenges.

The adjustment, however, will be limited to less than 5 percent due to intense competition. Some will exceed 15 percent.

2. About one-third of respondents are cutting rates to attract more orders. The reduction for most will be minimal to stay buoyant. The rest of the companies will keep quotes at current levels.

3. The majority of suppliers are confident of higher export sales this year. To achieve this, they are expanding market reach to Africa, Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia, South America and the Middle East. Europe and North America will remain key destinations

4. TVs make up China's largest home entertainment segment, with output representing almost half of the global total. STBs have a 70 percent share. A significant portion of worldwide shipments of speakers and video devices also come from the country.

5. To broaden and enhance their selections, companies are introducing more large-screen, full-HD and LED-backlit TVs. In the mature audio category, they focus on raising power output. For STBs and video devices, makers are adopting the latest components to boost product performance.
