Research and Markets: Mahdia Exploring Omai for a Potential Re-Opening

DUBLIN--()--Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/hnz8kq/mahdia_exploring_o) has announced the addition of the "Mahdia exploring Omai for a potential re-opening" report to their offering.

Among the gold producing countries, Guyana is relatively under-explored which presents a mineral exploration and development opportunity. The Guiana Shield underlies Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, parts of Venezuela, Brazil and Columbia. The shield is similar to the Archean Greenstone belt of Canadian Shield with repeated volcanic cycles and younger intrusive rocks. Some small Europe based companies mined across the Guiana Shield including in Guyana and Venezuela in the late 1800's. Guyana geologically contains greenstone belts that are similar to those found in Ghana, West Africa and Timmins, Ontario. With the exception of a few high grade deposits in southern Guyana and in Venezuela, the Guiana Shield was underexplored due to infrastructure and political issues. Guyana is one of the least explored of the world's Archean and Proterozoic terrains which host some of the largest gold deposits in the world.

Mine2Capital have built a discounted cash flow model for Omai based on their assumptions of the scope and size of the project. They are assuming the mill to start with a throughput of 10,000 tpd and expanded to 20,000 tpd when the stock piles are brought into production. They are estimating development capital costs of US$ 400 MM (based on the recently released feasibility studies of two projects in Guyana) and sustaining capital costs of US$ 33 MM for the project over a life of 11 years. They are being conservative and not including any mineralization from the Fennell Deep which has a non-NI 43-101 compliant resource of 1.4 Moz gold.
