Lenovo Uses PolyVista to Improve Product Reliability

PolyVista’s Discovery Software Delivers Analysis Beyond Reporting

HOUSTON--()--PolyVista, Inc. announced today that Lenovo (HKSE: 0992) has deployed PolyVista’s Discovery solution worldwide. Lenovo is using PolyVista’s text and data-mining analysis solution to enhance its capability to analyze product quality and warranty data.

“In our ongoing effort to deliver the highest quality, most reliable computing solutions for our customers, we selected PolyVista to replace our existing quality analysis system,” said Phil Hamilton, Business Data Analyst and Project Manager, Lenovo Worldwide Services. Compared to the old system, “there is a huge time savings,” he added. “The quality team that primarily used our original time-to-fail tool and now uses PolyVista probably sees an improvement of a factor of ten.”

“There are certain things I can do in five minutes using PolyVista that would have taken me a couple of days to do without PolyVista,” said Phil. “The tool’s ability to merge huge amounts of data is really powerful. We have one table with a billion records in it, and another with fifty million records, and PolyVista handles it all seamlessly.”

Steve Restivo, Senior Engineering Staff Member (Corporate Reliability Engineer, Quality Engineering, Lenovo US) reiterated Phil’s satisfaction. “PolyVista has worked very well for us. We’re an engineering group, not a production facility,” he explained. “When we need the data analysis, it’s there, as opposed to wondering if it’s worth the investment to get it or not.”

Lenovo uses PolyVista’s Discovery data and text mining software to identify opportunities to improve product reliability and quality while reducing warranty costs. Through improved analysis and monitoring of warranty claims and production and shipment data, PolyVista helps Lenovo deliver better products to the market.
