Crosslink Capital Taps John Coan as Marketing Chief

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Crosslink Capital, a leading venture capital and growth equity firm, today announced that John B. (Jack) Coan has joined the firm as General Partner and Head of Marketing and Client Relations. He is based in the firm’s San Francisco headquarters.

“Crosslink is at a point where we believe we have the track record of successes to leverage and grow,” said Michael Stark, founder and General Partner of Crosslink Capital. “And, we believe Jack Coan has the high-level strategic and fundraising experience we have been looking for, who will also be capable of leading and managing our marketing group on a global scale.”

Prior to joining Crosslink, Mr. Coan served as Managing Director of Western Region Institutional Sales for Renaissance Technologies, an algorithmic-trading investment manager, where he helped develop and coordinate sales and marketing strategies for the firm’s equity and futures-based hedge fund strategies.

From 1988-2002, Mr. Coan served in various Business Development and Investor Relations roles at Boston Partners Asset Management and its predecessor firm, The Boston Company Asset Management, eventually rising to Managing Director and Head of Sales. Following Boston Partners’ acquisition by The Robeco Group, Mr. Coan served as Head of Sales for Robeco Investment Management, the North American arm of the European asset manager.

Mr. Coan holds a B.A. degree from Harvard University.

“Crosslink Capital is a unique asset management firm with a reputation of integrity and a long, impressive track record of success to match,” noted Mr. Coan. “The combination of venture and public market investments is tremendously attractive, especially in the current market environment where alpha has been difficult to come by. I look forward to leading the firm’s global marketing efforts and introducing Crosslink to a broader set of institutions.”
