SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aruba Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:ARUN) today announced that Z Gallerie, a unique lifestyle retailer of high-quality, reasonably priced home decor merchandise from around the world, has deployed an Aruba network to support in-store sales and enhance customer engagement. Based on the Aruba Mobile Virtual Enterprise architecture, the network features the AP-93H, a recently-introduced wall-mountable access point (AP) in each of Z Gallerie’s 55 locations in the U.S.
The new network supports a system-wide rollout of Apple iPads that Z Gallerie salespeople use when interacting with customers, for competitive shopping and accessing additional information about products online, while on the showroom floor. Targeted future uses for the network include guest access and mobile point of sale.
“We really liked the idea of one central controller that would have visibility to every access point in the company. We’ve rolled out an access point to every store and multiple access points in our corporate locations,” said Howard Kolodny, Vice President of IT for Z Gallerie. “So far the experience has been extremely positive. The wireless component has been quite reliable, and the iPads have been very beneficial to our business. We look forward to expanding our wireless network use in the near future.”
The AP-93H, launched by Aruba in January of this year, works with centralized Aruba Mobility Controllers to deliver secure, high-speed network services that move users to a “wireless where possible, wired where necessary” network access model. The network can then be rightsized by eliminating unused Ethernet switch ports, which reduces operating costs. The AP-93H supports Adaptive Radio Management (ARM) and spectrum analysis to maximize client performance and mitigate RF interference.
“Z Gallerie is a leader in using mobile access to enhance retail customer experience,” said Robert Fenstermacher, director, product and solutions marketing for Aruba. “Consumers know that there is a wealth of information available about the products they are considering for purchase. Giving them access to this information right on the showroom floor helps ensure that their questions are answered without their having to leave the store.”
