Penn Foster Names Raymond J. McNulty Chief Learning Officer

Former International Center for Leadership in Education President, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Fellow, To Focus on Education Platform

SCRANTON, Pa.--()--Penn Foster, Inc., a global leader in online education, today announced the appointment of Raymond J. McNulty as Chief Learning Officer. In this new role, Raymond will focus on the educational platform and content provided to students in all programs at Penn Foster, with focus on learning methods and academic content. McNulty’s appointment continues to mark the rapid growth of the online education sector, and follows Penn Foster’s recent appointment of Frank Britt and Joseph Gagnon as CEO and President, as well as an office expansion in Boston.

McNulty, who currently serves on the National Dropout Prevention Center/Network Board of Directors at Clemson University, comes to Penn Foster from the International Center for Leadership in Education (ICLE) where he was President. Prior to joining the ICLE, McNulty was a senior fellow at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation where he worked with leading educators from around the country on improving high school education. McNulty has worked in education since 1973, holding teaching, principal, and superintendent positions in Vermont. From 2001-03, he served as Vermont's education commissioner. During his tenure, Ray focused on aligning the Department of Education's work on three key issues: early education, educator quality, and secondary school reform. Ray is also a past president of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and a frequent speaker at education events. He is also the author of It’s Not Us Against Them – Creating the Schools We Need, published in 2009.
