CHANDLER, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The combination of golf, Kettlebells, and mixed martial arts inspires the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Live Events team to develop and expand their continuing education workshop offerings beginning this June.
Scott Ramsdell, Director of Workshops and the live events team pulled inspiration from different resources to create workshops beginning June 2012. According to Ramsdell, “We needed to expand NASM’s product offerings to include professionals interested in a variety of live workshop learning topics.” His team also recognized a growing need for NASM to begin educational outreach to those who are new to the industry and may need assistance in finding the right career path in the fitness marketplace.
The successful launch of new credentials earlier this year was one of the motivators of development for the live events team at NASM. The Golf Fitness Specialist (GFS) course and the June launch of the Mixed Martial Arts (MMACS) Conditioning Specialist was the natural inspiration to create both the Golf Fitness and MMA Conditioning workshops. While both of these educational offerings provide continuing education units, they also pique the interest of health and fitness professionals to expand their current knowledge into areas they may not have been aware.
Awareness in the area of partnerships was another motivator in the creation and development of the following workshops for summer 2012. Since 1987, NASM has successfully partnered with a variety of fitness businesses and organizations over the years like Power Plate. Those valuable partnerships have evolved into the creation of workshops like the Intro to Power Plate Workshop, just one of the many workshops available to health and fitness professionals later this year. The excitement surrounding the educational and partnership opportunities has NASM coining the phrase, “powered by.” This short two-word phrase is symbolic of NASM’s belief in the power of partnerships and the development of the following educational workshops: Myofascial Training, Powered by Trigger Point Therapy; Intro to Kettlebell Training, Powered by Kettlebell Concepts; and lastly Intro to Dynamic Variable Resistance Training, Powered by Innovative Fitness Solutions.
Ramsdell and team are giving trainers and fitness professionals many exciting reasons to continue their education with NASM. The synergy surrounding the NASM workshops were inspired based off of career direction, student need, alignment with other NASM products, and partnerships. These reasons, plus industry trends and solicited feedback from customers rounded out the plan and purpose behind the next generation of workshops for NASM.
