Conference to forge closer business links with the United States and UK

NEW YORK--()--With the aim of promoting Colombian capital markets on the world’s most important stock exchanges, the Colombian Securities Exchange (Bolsa de Valores de Colombia, BVC), the Colombian Central Security Depositary Company (Depósito Centralizado de Valores, DECEVAL) and Citi are hosting Colombia InsideOut, an event designed to encourage foreign portfolio investment in Colombia. This event will be presented by several senior government officials, CEOs from some of the most important Colombian companies, and business and financial leaders. Colombia InsideOut will be held May 21-22 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York and May 24-25 at the London Stock Exchange.

Participants will have the opportunity to explore strategies and opportunities as well as the challenges of capital markets in Colombia. Specific themes will include the expansion of Colombian banks in Latin America, the development of infrastructure aimed at global competitiveness, the oil industry, and opportunities for sustainable growth. Colombia’s Minister of Finance and Public Credit, Juan Carlos Echeverry, and the CEO of the Colombian Securities Exchange, Juan Pablo Córdoba, will deliver the opening remarks. A highlight of the event will be “one-on-one” meetings with participating companies and investors, organized by Citi.

“These events provide vital information to investors that would be difficult to obtain via other channels. At each roadshow we hold one-on-one sessions with government officials, country regulators and private sector representatives, a unique opportunity for global investors to gain insights into the country’s financial, capital markets, as well as long term investment opportunities in each possible industry,” commented Jorge Hernan Jaramillo, CEO of Deceval.

“Colombia is one of the most important economies in the region and has a wealth of natural resources and very dynamic growth rates,” BVC’s CEO, Juan Pablo Cordoba, added. “The country continues to sign new trade deals and expand its role on the international stage, including hosting the Summit of the Americas in 2012. It is important for external investors to take advantage of this opportunity and learn more about the country’s significant economic potential."

Bernardo Noreña, President for Citi Colombia, emphasized the current dynamism of the Colombian market, which launched eight IPOs and reached more than one million individual investors in 2011. "This event is an opportunity to approach the big players focused on the world’s leading financial centers, which will certainly bring benefits to every issuer in the country,” he remarked.
