SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Big Fish announced today that Bill Lee, a prominent Silicon Valley entrepreneur and technology investor, has chosen to join its Board of Directors. Big Fish's board is the only board that Bill Lee currently participates on as a Director for a company that he has not founded, which is significant given the caliber of the companies he touches. Bill's recent investments include Tesla Motors (NASDAQ:TSLA), Yammer, Posterous (acquired by Twitter), SpaceX, Tweetdeck (acquired by Twitter), Kelkea (acquired by Trend Micro), Hootsuite, Peel, Social Concepts (acquired by Big Fish Games), Playhaven, Appmakr, and Zaarly. He is also on the advisory board of i/o ventures (http://www.ventures.io) -- a San Francisco early stage startup program that focuses heavily on mentorship.
"With the upcoming launch of its universal cloud gaming service and growth in the social mobile marketplace, Big Fish is in a place of strength in the casual games market and at an exciting juncture in the company's evolution. I saw joining its board of directors as a great way to be a part of its future and help guide their direction," said Bill Lee.
A natural entrepreneur, Bill Lee was CEO and co-founder of Remarq, a Benchmark Capital-backed collaboration company. At Remarq, Bill guided the company in its development of a complete end-to-end Internet messaging and collaboration platform. Before its acquisition by Critical Path in March 2000 for $265 million, the company developed high-volume messaging platforms for sites such as eBay, Sun, Novell, and Amazon.
"During the acquisition of Self Aware Games, it became clear that Bill would be an exceptional addition to the Big Fish board. The invitation to join the Big Fish board was not part of the deal consideration for Self Aware, it was a decision based on our desire to add his fast-paced, future-focused entrepreneurial perspective to the board as we expand Big Fish’s offerings with new game experiences and content delivery technologies," said Paul Thelen, founder and CEO of Big Fish.
