Program at Robert M. Greer Center Awarded NADD Accreditation

ENID, Okla.--()--The Robert M. Greer Center, managed by the Liberty of Oklahoma Corporation and the only state-owned residential treatment facility in the state that exclusively serves individuals with intellectual disabilities and mental illness, was recently awarded accreditation from the National Association for the Dually Diagnosed (NADD), a world leader in providing training and establishing standards for the treatment of the dually diagnosed.

To achieve NADD accreditation, Liberty’s program at Greer was evaluated in a number of areas including treatment plans, crisis prevention and intervention, and ethical conduct. The evaluation process includes an extensive survey and records review to determine if the program reflects the best practices in the field.

“In our quest to provide the greatest value and services for the clients we serve at the Robert M. Greer Center, their families, Oklahoma taxpayers, and the state, Liberty of Oklahoma Corporation follows some of the toughest national accreditation standards that are the most applicable to our clients,” said Dr. Hugh M. Sage, executive director of the Greer Center, which is managed by the Liberty of Oklahoma Corporation.

“When NADD made its accreditation program available last November, we realized that objective evidence of compliance with those additional standards would be ideally suited to attest to the appropriateness and efficacy of Liberty’s clinical and related practices for our highly specialized client population,” said Sage. “And, in fact, our NADD survey last February produced a number of helpful recommendations for strengthening our program.”

Liberty’s program at the Greer Center, in fact, is the first to be awarded accreditation from NADD.

“We are pleased that Liberty of Oklahoma/Robert M. Greer Center has received the first NADD Accreditation,” said Dr. Robert J. Fletcher, Founder and CEO of NADD. “Liberty of Oklahoma/Robert M. Greer Center has earned the NADD Accreditation by substantially meeting the high standards NADD has established. This designation, the NADD ‘seal of approval,’ indicates that Liberty of Oklahoma/Robert M. Greer Center provides quality services for individuals who have intellectual/developmental disabilities co-occurring with mental illness.”

NADD, a non-profit, was founded in 1983 to advance mental wellness for persons with developmental disabilities through the promotion of excellence in mental health care and started the accreditation program in hopes of improving the quality of services provided to individuals who are dually diagnosed.

The Greer Center, located in Enid, Oklahoma, currently serves 51 patients and provides short-term treatment and habilitation services designed to re-integrate adults with intellectual disabilities and mental illness into the community. The state of Oklahoma founded Greer in 1988.
