BMI View:
Macroeconomic factors have led BMI to revise down its forecast for Brazilian IT spending in 2012; it is now expected to reach US$29.8bn in 2012, up 9.0% from an estimated US$27.3 in 2011. The Brazilian IT market is easily the largest in Latin America, and spending in the IT market is forecast to surpass US$42bn by 2016. Spending on IT services is also forecast to grow strongly over the forecast period, reaching nearly US$18bn by 2016. This makes Brazil one of the fastest growing global markets. Although the situation has improved since 2007, Brazil's company spending on IT measured as a percentage of revenue is still believed to lag behind that of its global peers.
